This site is part of a 3 year research study on Angling in Assynt, which itself is part of a wider national study about angling’s social and community aspects. It seeks to understand more about how angling can play a positive role in rural and remote communities and generate information for the benefit of local people and organisations and anglers. We have added a Blog section to this site so that we can report and comment on some of the research as it is ongoing. We will also post blogs by you if you would like to send them to us.

Get Involved!
The case study is multi-faceted and there are a number of different ways you can get involved. These include helping us with our surveys, contributing comments and catch information via the state of the art online mapping tool, contributing to our postcode survey and being interviewed by the project team. Sea Angling Boat Trips Available!
In response to demand from anglers, those wishing to go on a sea angling boat trip from Lochinver can now do so. Willie McLeod is offering parties of 6-8 people the chance to go fishing on the Dorothy Anne from Lochinver harbour.
Trips are weather dependent and the cost will be around £160 for a half day (4 hours) and £300 for a full day (8 hours) – which works out at around £20 or £40 per person respectively. Please note these must be group bookings
Fishing is mostly for Mackerel, Pollack and Coley
Rods can be supplied if necessary
Willie is fully insured and a very experienced sea angler, so there to help.
Trips are also available for non anglers

Get Information - Give Us Feedback!
As part of the research we have created a unique interactive map of angling in Assynt using state of the art OS technology. This provides you with the hottest local information on where to fish, how to buy permits, where the boats are located, photographs and more.But we also really need you to give us your feedback and fishing reports on lochs you have fished, what the experience was like, and what you caught. You can also add you own loch, send us photographs or tell us about wildlife you have seen whilst fishing.
