Get Involved

Please be part of our research and help angling and community development in Assynt and elsewhere. Your input is vital and much appreciated.

Here’s how you can contribute:

Surveys
We are conducting a number of surveys of visiting anglers in each year of the project. We need to know:

  • How much anglers spend in the local economy: this will help inform tourism and angling development initiatives and to understand the contribution angling makes in areas such as Assynt
  • What anglers’ experience of Assynt is like: this will help angling organisations know more about what visiting anglers like and what they want from fishing in the area
  • What anglers caught whilst fishing there: there are hardly any catch returns for trout fishing in Assynt and this is essential information if angling is to be developed sustainably.

There are individual survey tools for each of these - please complete all three if you can.
i) Anglers Spending
ii) Angling Experience
iii) Catch Return

However, there are other ways you can contribute.

Interview
We want to conduct some more in depth interviews with those who fish in Assynt - whether for the wild brown trout, salmon and sea trout, or in the sea.
We can do this in person, by phone or by email. All interviews will be anonymised.
Please fill in our Interview Contact Form and help angling in Assynt develop.

Postcode
As part of the research, we need to map where anglers in Assynt come from. Please help us by telling us your postcode.
Postcode submission form

Please note we will only use this in an aggregate mapping of visitors to the area and not for ANY other purposes.

You can see where other visitors to Assynt come from in each year of the project on the Visitors' Map.
